The official information and flyer have been released for the 37th Annual Cecil Harlan Memorial Kegger presented by The Mower Shop and benefitting the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation.
This year's event will feature over $29,000 in prize money and will be held at the legendary Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma on March 17th, 18th and 19th, 2016. As it has been for the previous 36 years, this event will kick-off another racing season on the famous high banks. This will be the second Kegger for track owner Carey Menasco and the first for track promoter Dan King. This Kegger will not only be the first official race of the 2016 season, but it will also be the first point race for all six of the regular weekly classes. It will also be a state and national point race for all three of our IMCA classes and a state, regional and national point race for the USRA-sanctioned TSS Modifieds.
For the Kegger, the Sport Mod class will also allow USRA B-Mods and Wissota MidWest Mods. Those two classes will have to remove their rear spoilers for the event. Northern and Southern IMCA Sport Mods will also be able to compete but the Southern division will be required to run either Hoosier H500 or IMCA 500 tires. These rules will allow all of the regional and national Sport Mod cars to compete on an equal playing field for this event. There will be no mixing of rules for this event. You must declare at first inspection which division/class/sanction that you are running and must compete in that division/class/sanction for the entire event with that car. Each driver is responsible for knowing the rules for their chosen division/class/sanction.
The Pure Stocks will be competing for $500 to win with no entry fee and the IMCA Stocks will be competing for $800 to win also with no entry fee. The Super Stocks and the Sport Mods will both be competing for $1,000 to win with only a $50 entry fee. The TSS Modifieds also only have just a $50 entry fee, but will be competing for $1,500 to win while the IMCA Modifieds will be competing for a $2,000 paycheck with just a $100 entry fee. Last year's event brought in drivers from six states, including Kansas, Missouri and Iowa, to compete and we are expecting as many or even more for this year's action.
The event starts on Thursday, the 17th, will consist of an open practice session for all six classes from 6 PM to 9 PM. Pit gates will open at 4 PM with the grandstands opening at 5 PM. Grandstand admission will be free for everyone on Thursday and pit passes will only be $15.
The action heats up on Friday, the 18th, which will be qualifying night for all of the classes. Drivers will compete in heat races via a pill draw for starting positions. There will also be qualifying features to determine the top starting positions in Saturday night's A Features. Pit gates will open at 4 PM with grandstands at 5 PM. Pit passes will be $30 for adults and kids will be $15. Grandstand admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12 years old.
The competition will wrap on Saturday, the 19th, with the features for the competing classes. Cars that did not lock into the A Feature on Friday night will compete through qualifying features based on where they finished on Friday night's qualifying races. There will also be a last chance qualifier for any new drivers that did not compete on Friday or for any driver that has not already qualified for the A Feature. Pit gates will open at 4 PM with grandstands opening at 5 PM. Pit passes for Saturday will be $35 for adults and $15 for kids. Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12 years old.
Don't forget that we have adult season ticket pricing on sale starting with the Kegger. The passes will be good for any regular racing program. Special events, such as the Kegger, will require the pass holder to pay the difference from the normal $10 adult admission. Adult season passes are only $225 and can be purchased at the track through May 30th. For more information on season passes and family packs, for non-special events, check our website at www.Tri-StateSpeedway.com.
