9th Annual Tillman Evans Memorial and $1,500 to Win Enduro #2
This coming Saturday night, August 26th, Tri-State Speedway roars back into action with the 9th Annual Tillman Evans Memorial Races with added money in all classes plus the second $1,500 to win, 100 lap Enduro of the season!
The night will also see a name change for one class and an appearance from a potential new class. Our current Pure Stock class will now be called Factory Stock and a new, basic, entry level Pure Stock class will be introduced. The new Pure Stock class is currently only scheduled to run this event and possibly the Spooker at the end of the season, but could see another appearance or two before then.
This event will also mark the first full night of operation with the new track managament of Michael and Jerri Hoover. Let's make sure we tell them how much we appreciate them and their support of Tri-State Speedway.
The night's activities will include a memorial tribute to the late Tillman Evans who was the original builder of Tri-State Speedway. Tillman is the father of former driver, Tilly Evans, and the grandfather of current driver, Ty Evans. Although Tillman passed away several years ago, his work and legacy will continue to be a part of and felt at the legendary facility that he created over 47 years ago.
The night's racing action will include added money for all classes racing. The IMCA Modifieds will have this weekend and next weekend, September 2nd, off in order for them to participate in the IMCA Super Nationals in Boone, IA. The USRA Modifieds will be racing for $700 to win and $125 to start their A Feature. The Super Stocks will be racing for $500 to win and a possible $60 to start. The USRA B-Mods will be competing for $450 to win and a possible $60 to start. The Factory Stocks (formerly Pure Stocks) will be racing for $400 to win plus a possible $60 to start. The new Pure Stock class will be competing for $300 to win and a possible $50 to start.
In addition to all of that exciting action, the second $1,500 to win, 100 lap Enduro will take place at the end of the regular racing program. If you've never seen an Enduro, you definitely will want to see this! These are basically a stock vehicle, not race cars, with street tires and no windows that compete against each other for 100 laps with no stopping. The only time the race stops is if there is a bad wreck, a car is in a dangerous position or if there is a fire. There are no caution flags for spins and minor wrecks. Plus, these drivers get to carry a front seat passenger with them, if they want to in order to help navigate the traffic! We've had up to 65 of these cars on the track at one time! It's only a $50 entry fee plus a $30 pit pass to compete. You can find the rules for the event under the Rules link under the Driver's tab on our website or by clicking here.
Gates will open at 5 PM with hot laps at 7:30 PM. Driver sign in ends at 7:00 PM with a driver's meeting to follow. Pit passes will be $30 for adults ad $15 for kids (6-12). Grandstand admission will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+) and $5 for kids (6-12). All military, past or present, get in free with proof of service, as well as all law enforcement.
We will see YOU this coming Saturday night!
