THE EVENT
POCOLA, OK (September 16th, 2017) – Round two of the $10,000 September to Remember four-week championship event is now in the book with 66 cars in four classes taking on the famous high banks in Pocola, OK. With temps In the low 90’s at go time, it was a little warmer than it has been the last few weeks, but still very comfortable. The track prep worked well and the “black ice” made an appearance for the feature racing and produced some awesome three-wide action.
The pre-race ceremonies started at 7:59 PM with the invocation and the playing of the National Anthem, along with a parade lap led by the 51 car of Andrew Bohanan in honor of his late pit crew member, Johnathan Bash. Also joining him was Brad Johnson and Austin Farnam.
Heat race lineups for all four classes competing in the September to Remember event were determined by the driver’s draw at sign in each night. The classes advanced to their features via their finish in their heats. Plus, the last heat winner in each class drew a number for the number of rows to invert for the A Feature.
At intermission, everyone had a chance to grab themselves some of the great food items from the concessions as race winners from the previous week were on hand to get their trophies and photos taken. The 50/50 drawing was held before the last A feature of the night.
TOP THREE
The Factory Stock A Feature was on the track first and saw Jacob Cox (99 - Pocola, OK) claim his third win of the season. Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) crossed the line in second place over JR Owen (79 - Pocola, OK).
Up next was the USRA B-Mod A Feature where Hunter Byers (M19 – Rogers, AR) went to Victory Lane for the fourth time this season as Bobby Ward (33 – Tahlequah, OK) took home second place over Brian Williams (726 – Fayetteville, AR).
The Super Stock A Feature hit the track next. Danny Womack (3 – Bixby, OK, OK) was able to defend Week 1’s win with another win after fending off a hard-charging Brian Parker (210 – Owasso, OK), who finished in second ahead of Ty Evans (5E – Fort Smith, AR).
The USRA Modifieds took to the high banks last for their A Feature. Johnny Bone, Jr. (12 – Pea Ridge, AR) was able to repeat his Week 1 win and his fourth in as many races at Tri-State Speedway. Trevor Latham (27L – Rogers, AR) crossed the line only inches behind the winner as Kyle Ledford (75 – Greenwood, AR) repeated his third place finish from Week 1.
