POCOLA, OK (July 11th, 2015) –The weather “gurus” got it right this weekend. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your outlook of things. They were correct in that there would be no rain on Saturday and that the temperatures were going to be in the mid 90’s. The bad part of their forecast was that the temps were in the mid 90’s.
The first order of business was to honor the last races (July 4th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.
Heat racing action in all six classes got started a little late due to some extra track preparation and took the race fans to intermission at 9:10 PM. The intermission break gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food along with the world famous Menasco BBQ.
The last few weekend’s start times have been pushed back a little due to the effects of the summer sunshine on the new clay at Tri-State Speedway. Going forward, or until further notice, we will be scheduling the pre-race ceremonies for 7:15 PM with the green flag to drop on heat racing action at 7:30 PM. Gate open times will remain the same with pit gates opening at 4 PM and grandstands at 5 PM.
The Factory/I Stock A Feature hit the track first with Shannon Cox (75 – Greenwood, AR) claiming his first win of the season ahead of Mike Wiseman (DT1 – Muskogee, OK), who finished in second for the second week in a row, and Chris Patterson (48 – Muldrow, OK) in third, after his roll over last weekend.
In the IMCA Sport Mod A Feature, Cody Rongey (71 – Booneville, AR) also took home his first A Feature win of the season ahead of previous feature winners, Aaron Scroggins (1/4 – Neosho, MO) and Ken McCarty (1 – Rogers, AR) in second and third, respectively.
The IMCA Modified A Feature hit the track next and saw Tae Cole (89 - Muskogee, OK) return to take home his fifth trophy of the season as Anthony Reeves (1ST – Mulberry, AR) finished in second and Kent Bright (3B – Sand Springs, OK) finished in third.
The Pure Stock A Feature saw Wesley Bourne (5 – Cameron, OK) on top as Chris Perkins (88 – Rudy, AR) crossed in second with Austin Farnam (38J – Fort Smith, AR) cracking the top three.

In the Super Stock A Feature, in what he hopes is a preview of the upcoming $5,000 to win 17th Annual Super Stock Showdown, presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company, Kyle Slader (19S – Muskogee, OK) took the win from a strong Dylan Davlin (26D – Shady Point, OK) in a side-by-side run to the checkered flag as Scooter Scruggs (43 – Hensley, AR) finished in a close third.
