POCOLA, OK (July 16th, 17th & 18th, 2015) –Once again the weather people were spot on with the forecast for the 17th Annual Super Stock Showdown presented by Shamrock Bolt & Screw Company. Temperatures were in the mid to high 90’s for all three days and zero rain, which is a lot better than what the track faced earlier in the season. Even with the heat of summer, the fans and drivers, all 85 of them, came out for a great three day event.
The event kicked off with open practice for any class and free grandstand admission on Thursday night and continued on Friday night with qualifying races and features for the Super Stocks with a full point show for the Pure Stocks and Factory/IMCA Stocks. Everything wrapped up on Saturday night with last chance qualifying features, a full point show for the IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Modifieds and the TSS Modifieds, plus the big 40 lap, %5,000 to win Super Stock A Feature.
The first order of business, on Saturday night, was to honor the last races (July 11th) A Feature winners with their trophies, interviews and photo taking on the pass through in front of the grandstands after the pre-race ceremonies of the invocation and the national anthem.
With the added heat and sunshine of mid-summer, the start time change to 8 PM was beneficial as the sun was on its way down at that point which helped keep the moisture in the track longer and helped the fans get a little cooler quicker. Heat racing action got underway on Friday night at 8:20 PM and on Saturday night at 8:15 PM. Both nights, intermission was underway around 9:30 PM giving everyone a chance to stretch their legs and get some of the awesome concession stand food and eat some of the world famous Menasco BBQ.

Saturday night’s feature action started with two last change B Features for the Super Stocks. Tony Anglin (G1 – Walnut Ridge, AR) captured the first and Kent Bright (74 – Sand Springs, OK) took home the win in the second last chance B Feature.
