July 11th, 2020 - HeyDibz.com Weekly Point Racing and Fan Appreciation Night

It was another hot one as the stars and cars of the Arkansas River Valley made the trek up the hill in another action filled night at The Mighty Tri-State Speedway.

Factory Stock saw a familiar face BACK in victory lane. After rolling off 7th Grant Davis battled it out with Wesley Bourne and Robert Southerland to get to the top spot. Southerland did everything he could to keep the 39JR wagon out front but the #1 machine was too much. Southerland went high to shut down that lane too late as Davis made the pass. It opened the door for Bourne to take away the near the wall line going into 3 that Southerland had been running. Both drivers made it stick and #1 and #5 came home 1 & 2.

Bmod..... if you like the three way battle in Factory Stock then you DEFINITELY liked the race in Bmod. Dalton Ragsdale, Hunter Byers, and Cody King were stuck nose to tail down the straights then searching for the fastest line through the turns. Lap traffic would play a key role to the finish of the race as a lap car would go up high into 3 & 4 allowing Byers to get a run on Ragsdale. A wreck by Byers into 1 on the last lap would end the race with Ragsdale taking the top spot with Cody King in 2nd

A short intermission had the drivers in front of the grandstand handing out all sorts of goodies to the fans. But a looming storm in the distance created a great back drop for photo opportunities.

Super Stock, they say Lightning doesn't strike twice but two Lightning fast race cars out of the same shop will for dang sure finish 1 & 2. The Davlins took their Red #26 & 26D Monte Carlos to the front and said goodbye to the rest of the field. Dylan Davlin would take home the win with dad Gean Davlin coming in 2nd.

In the USRA A-mods a noticeable non-starter was Jason Hughes who also ran in the Bmod race. The lightning from the north would become more consistent and the wind picked up considerably as Tyler Wolff took the 4W to the front with several competitors trying to chase him down. As the front end of the storm grew closer a wreck in turn 4 stopped and concluded the Amod race as everyone ran for cover. Thoughts are with those still recovering from the damage of the storms.

The track is off this week for their usual summer vacation! They'll be back in action on July 25 for more weekly point racing. If there's a track running this weekend go to it! Buy a hot dog or 2 and ice cold water!

And Spectacular it was! The always incredible fireworks show and face melting fire bombs brought a roar from the capacity crowd I hadn't heard in my four seasons as the photo guy. The Cecil Harlan, Danny Martinez, Curtis Tennant, Tillman Evans, and John Stand memorial laps are some of the most amazing parts of the season as they honor the history of the Tri-State Speedway and the people who helped shaped what the track is today.

The #1 "hatchback" of Grant Davis got the win in Factory Stock after a Lap 1 wreck put him at the back of the field. BUT! That wasn't the only action! Wesley Bourne put on a dominating show for most of the race. A spin by Robert Southerland in Turn 4, after passing Bourne for the lead, brought out a late caution. After the restart Davis went to the top into turn 1 and made it stick with 3 laps to go making it his 3rd win at Tri-State.

Fanshawe, Oklahoma's Cody King nabbed his 2nd win at Tri-State after starting on the pole. Danny Martin and Hunter Byers gave chase, but the Xtreme Chassis driver led flag to flag. Neil Johnston and the Big Chief Eddie Martin rounded out the top 5. A wreck on the first lap of the B Feature kept us from seeing Jeff Tennant attempting to make the A feature. Hope to see that car come out again this year.

So how do you top Grant Davis' last to first? With another one! H Wayne Palmer took the legendary X-15 to victory lane after rolling off 9th. Kyle Davis, just like Bourne, put on a dominating race keeping Andy Morris and Robert Knowles in the rear view. But that Yellow and Orange Factory56 TJR Monte Carlo would not be denied a victory.

USRA A-mods.... When there's a Wolff there is going to be a fast fast Modified. The 4W got to the lead and well... took off. Past track champions Tate Cole and Trevor Latham tried to chase down the the Fayetteville native but finished 2nd and 3rd. Kyle Ledford and 3 time winner already this season Lonnie Robins rounded out the top 5.

This week! It's Fan Appreciation Night at the track! Other than another watch another youth baseball tournament what else are you going to do? Come to the races! Bring some friends! At $5 what are you waiting for? Come out, high five some drivers as they drive by and watch some action packed racing on the clay high banks.

It was a hot hot night that showcased great racing action in three classes. Here's your Saturday night run down.

Factory Stock saw Cameron, Oklahoma's Wesley Bourne take the win in his Hollywood Motorsports Monte Carlo. After dominating the a majority of the race, Andrew Bohanan ran into some trouble and came to a stop in turn 2. From there it was all Bourne as the win streak by Grant Davis was halted at 2. The story of the night was a three car wreck in the second Heat race saw Chad Abernathy roll on to his side. Chad would get the car repaired and make it out to the A feature starting 14th. He would make it all the way to 5th when the checkered flag waved.

My favorite series on dirt rolled into Pocola and brought the heavy hitters of USMTS with them. Last year's winner Hunter Marriott returned to see if he could go back to back at the red clay track up on the hill. The beautiful Turn 3 sunset wasn't the only thing the stars of the USMTS got to see on Saturday night, as they chased eventual winner Rodney Sanders who took lead and never looked back. It was a milestone night for the Happy, Tx native as he notched his 100th A Feature win.

USRA Bmods! Last weeks winner Daniel Tarkington would start on the pole for the A feature with Cody King to his outside. Cody would take the lead and check out with Neil Johnston trying to chase him down. Cody would go on to get his first Bmod feature win at Tri-State in 2020.

NEXT WEEK! How do you top the last three weeks of racing at The Mighty Tri-State Speedway? Well I'll tell ya what. Late Models! The Dirt Track Bank Cash Money Super Dirt Series brings their traveling road show to the Pocola highbanks. Tentatively Hot Laps at 7 with racing at 730, these times maybe pushed back due to heat and visibility for the drivers as they head down the backstretch.
